Lookout Lake, Harrison West

Lookout Lake, Harrison West

Lookout Lake is a mid elevation lake located in the backcountry of Harrison West. The lake is only accessible by 4wd and a copy of Backroad Map books Vancouver Coast should always be in the glove box. Lookout Lake receives much less pressure then other lakes in the area since it's more difficult to access so it's not uncommon to have the lake to yourself. This lake is best explored by a float tube or pontoon boat since shore fishing can be somewhat limited.

The lake contains good numbers of Rainbow and Cutthroat trout in the 25-35cm range. Being stocked in the past and with low fishing pressure there are sure to be some bigger fish in this lake. All the normal lower mainland fly patterns work well here including Doc Spratley, Woolly Bugger, and Tom Thumb. As for bait worms or power bait work well under a float. If your fishing with spoons 1/16th oz croc spoons are the go to.

Rachel and I headed up to Lookout Lake for an afternoon of fishing. We drove up Hale Creek but the road is closed due to logging so instead of going in the back way up Mystery Creek we headed into the bush. We took the rough overgrown road in but made it to the southern arm. Imeditely getting out of the truck you,can see the fish rising and lots of insects flying over the water so I know to start out with a dry fly. Rachel in her pontoon boat and myself in the float tube we were both Fly-fishing. After kicking and casting an Adams fly at rising fish on my way out to the main body on the lake I landed a small a Rainbow and had a few hits. We noticed that the hot spot was inbetween the two arms from 40 feet out to shore. Casting at rising fish with a Adams fly was working great as well as the Bodiless Elk Hair Caddis. Our largest Rainbow trout was 35cm (14") and had another in the same range, with lots of smaller fish caught and non-stop action.

Several things wrong in your post about Green Timbers.
1. The lake is not located anywhere near "the King George skytrain station". It is about 2 miles east of there.
3. After turning right from 152 on to 100 Ave, the park is on the left (not the right) a
