Trout Lake

Trout Lake, Harrison

Trout Lake is located in Sasquatch Provincial Park near Harrison Hot Springs. It is the smallest lake among a trio of lakes in this park. This lake can be one of the most productive lakes in the area due to the fact that it sees a low amount of fishing preasure and the trout take easily to flies. There are both Cutthroat and Rainbow trout in this lake but they stay fairly small in the 20cm to 30cm range. Shore fishing is somewhat limited but there is a small dock here and a nice beach half way down the lake on a creek inlet. This beach though can be very hard to access because there is no marked trail and its been long overgrown. Fishing tends to slow down in the summer and is best fished in spring and fall from a float tube because the steep trail to access this lake can be hard to pack anything else down. Note: there is a no motor restriction on this lake not even electric motors are allowed.

Rachel and I headed up to Trout Lake this afternoon and started fishing around noon. I was fly-fishing with an olive micro leech on a type III sinking line for the better part of the day and landed 3 small Cutthroat trout, two 18cm and 1 23 cm and lost two others. Rachel was using an olive Tom Thumb on a floating line and had 4 hook ups but didnt manage to land them. I switched to a Tom Thumb at the end of the day when the fish started to rise but didnt have any luck with that. All the fish were faily small but very active. The weather was good with overcast sky at the beginning and when we left around 5:30pm the sun came out and turned into a beautiful evening.

Thats a spiny dog fish pal (also known as mud shark). Salmon sharks are completely different...almost look like a mini great white.

Hi James. Do you have any advice on how to deter people from raiding and stealing my crabs traps? I've lost 2 so far and been raised 10 out of 12 times.
